The Start Of A Long Hot Summer Of Morning Coffee Muses I

The Start Of A Long Hot Summer Of Morning Coffee Muses

Walking out on the back porch this morning was like a slap in the face with a warm hot towel. My glasses fogged up, my tablet fogged over, even the lens on the tablet was foggy… It wasn’t unexpected as I had warning from the display in the bathroom that the front porch was already reporting 80°. So, when after taking my morning record shots and getting them uploaded to this website, the tablet froze up (if only it was related to the temperature), I didn’t argue with fate and headed in to the real computer to compose my muses.

I have noticed the last week that as the heat rises, the birdsong of a morning seems to lessen as the cicadas song gets louder. It seems the dog days of summer are upon us. It will seem like forever before the cooler days of fall and Thanksgiving arrive.

At least we are closing in on our North Carolina Mountain vacation. One week of mountain weather, even warmer than normal mountain weather will improve the spirits. I’m sure we can’t be as lucky as we were three years ago when we arrived the day after a nonseasonal cold front blew thru. What a wonderful 10 days that was.

Whats happening this year is closer to what we faced on our first trip almost 15 years ago…

Every time my wife sees that the weather is “warm” in the mountains she asks why we are going. And I try to explain that even warmer weather in the mountains is at least twenty degrees cooler than where we would be otherwise.

Anticipation… ahh another song reference. That’s what I’ll be doing for the next two weeks… anticipating this view for my morning coffee…

And here is the final shot from this morning…
