A Not So Beautifully Cool Morning Coffee Muses I

A Not So Beautifully Cool Morning Coffee Muses

And the heat is on… to borrow a song title. The beautifully cool mornings we’ve been blessed with are over. It’s already 80° heading for a Prognosticator’s foretelling of 89… but, then again, that was the foretelling for the past three days and we’ve hit the low nineties each day with a feels like temp in the low triple digits. Texas summer’s back. You know how I know that for sure? Because you have to work to hear the birds singing over the sound of the cicadas…

By my personal definition of summer we’re not quite there yet. My definition of summer is the lows stay above 80° for a full week. We still have a bit to go for that to be true.

It’s about time to go do breakfast. For supper tonight I’m trying an experiment with the sous vide, on of the recipes in the app is for ultimate chuck steak. It cooks in the sous vide for 24 hours before being put on the grill for just a couple of minutes on each side. It’s supposed to take that chuck steak/roast to a whole new level. Time will tell. I think I’ll use the grill to roast some vegetables to go with the beef. Low and slow works for brisket, I’m sure it’ll do the same for the chuck.
