Sweet, Sweet, Cool Morning Coffee Muses

Texas weather is like a yoyo. Monday morning it was in the 50’s, Tuesday morning it was 60, yesterday the morning started off at almost 80, today we are back to 60. I don’t know about you, but, personally I’ll take the 60’s.  Too bad they never last…

On the avian front… The bluebirds are definitely moving into the nest box. Bits of pine needles, lengths of grass, other pieces of flotsam can be seen hanging out of the cracks. And the male and females are making constant trips back and forth. Secondly, I spotted a scarlet tanager on the neighbors mulberries. It was the attraction of those trees to the migrants passing thru that led me to plant a couple of my own “improved” varieties.

I guess I need to get moving. As much as I enjoy this morning, I need to get busy…

  1. I heard Captain Mickey on the Outdoor show today (I think) talking about a pair of scarlet tanagers who nested in his garage and raised three babies. Maybe you’ll get some residents, too.

    1. I have never seen any of what I consider the exotics other than this particular time of the year. Though, all of the bird books show some of them at least resident in the area. I am just happy to see the bluebirds using the nest box I bought a decade ago. Now if someone would move into the other three…
