At least it’s cool on the back porch this morning. Still raining… but cool. Yesterday it was raining and hot. The yard is starting to look like a swamp in a lot of places.
If you look closely, you can see where I stopped mowing on Wednesday when I was caught by rain.
We have had so much rain lately, you have to catch the national news to see coverage. Every river in the area is out of it’s banks. Our prayers go out to everyone who has been affected.
I exchanged emails with Susan Conaty last night – she was out at Nash a couple of days ago, but now the road is closed, of course. We had four inches in an hour last night, and Armand Bayou went to the top of the chart and beyond for a while. I suspect it’s back down now. I just heard that some areas can expect another ten inches. Under normal circumstances, i’d assume someone found a typo, and it’s an inch expected. Today? Not so much.
I have been following her pictures on Facebook. I worry about her staying at home in this. Every one who has been caught in this flooding has said it’s never been this bad before… and every one of them have been surprised. As I type this I am listening to yesterday’s podcast of the Texas Standard… and they are talking about the flooding.
