Wednesday morning coffee… a bit warmer on the back porch. It’s also a bit quieter, not much in the way of bird noises, a dull far away rumble of traffic on the bypass. Way, way, far away the almost not heard sound of a train whistle drifts up. So I’m sitting here, sipping my coffee, waiting for the muse to percolate up through my morning fog… I’ve read my email, I’ve skimmed a load of Facebook posts when I see the post leading to the New York Times and James Taylor’s new album… so, ok, a photo of the view would be a repeat of yesterday’s, a video would be mostly silent… so I press play and sit back and let James Taylor’s voice carry me into his muse today. And carry me he does…
And all of a sudden I am back watching this season of The Voice… and it hits me what it was about Sawyer Fredericks that had me and Sherry both pulling for the kid. There is a quality to both their voices that just gets into my head. James Taylor I have been listening to since I was about Sawyer’s age, I hope to be listening to Sawyer for just as long…
So, if my kids happen to be reading this far… here is a hint on what you can attach to that Fathers Day card…
And if you all want to splurge on your old Dad, there is a deluxe book version available from his website.
Now the cup is empty and I need a refill… so just press play…

Today, it had drained a good bit more, but the egrets were everywhere — and yellow crowned nightherons. After crawdads, i’d suspect, and frogs.
I stayed in The Quarters at the Presidio. There’s nothing quite like having a fort all to yourself once the museum closes — what an experience!
I had driven to Rosharon on Sunday afternoon and the 1462 was shut down at the intersection with 521. They even had a popup in the road over a couple of officer vehicles. They were only letting residents in.
A week or so ago we were having regular visits from a group of ibises, the ground was soft enough from all of the rain for them to walk through sticking their bills into the ground… it was almost comical. The cattle egrets have been having a ball with all of the tiny little frogs that are hopping around…
Staying in the Quarters… wow, were there any strange noises in the night? I can hardly wait to read all about it…
