So, we sprang forward again yesterday. And here we are with what much of the country would consider a summertime forecast. It’s already 62° out and the sun isn’t up yet. Not that that is an unusually high temperature to be starting the day, this year it’s pretty normal.
Yesterday during a light rain (not the gully washers that preceded and followed it), we watched a coyote wander across the back yard at the edge of the woods. He wasn’t in any hurry either. I have to say it’s the first time we’ve seen one out during the middle of the day even though they have been around for years. We don’t have them serenade us on a nightly basis like they used to do at the ranch in south Texas, but we hear them often enough to know they are around.
The air this am is definitely full of spring…Birdsong, pollen, cut clover…All of the signs are in alignment. I’ll need to start checking the websites for the wildflower reports to plan my spring road trip. I need to add Washington-on-the-Brazos to my itinerary. I want to get some shots from the state park there to us for next years Texas Independence Day post.
Well, I’m over in Louisiana for the weekend. It’s Rabbit Festival time in Iowa, don’t you know? 😉
Anyway, I noted Indian Paintbush along I-10 on the way over, and plenty of pink evening primroses. There were other flowers, too, but at 65 mph or so, I couldn’t figure out what they were, other than white and yellow. Oh, and the purple thistle.
Yep. It’s time to be out and about. (And the rabbit was pretty good – tried about two dozen varieties at the cookoff!)
You’re right, and I need to start planning a day trip inland…
Hmmm…rabbit.
