Are you waiting for your refund? I know I am…I have been for over a month now. And don’t put too much store in the “Where’s My Refund” website status. Mine has changed three times now.
After speaking to the IRS rep today I was informed that for whatever reason my return was tagged by the computer for review, a process that can take 45 days or more, I am in good company. According to the representative I spoke with the push for electronic filling has caused more returns than normal to go into the review que. Of course, this being the IRS, it was termed more along the lines of “with the increase in electronic filing, we are seeing more attempts at fraud”.
Add to all of this the threat of a government shutdown by our friendly neighborhood Tea Party Republicans and the wait could extend even further into the future. Too bad all of those conservative Congressional “leaders”, and I use the term with great irony, won’t be feeling the countries pain as they still get their paychecks. Does anyone else see the timing of this shutdown as a bit “libertarian”.
So, if, like me you are waiting for the IRS to send you a check…Don’t hold your breath, it could be a good long time before your government sends you your money. And don’t get me wrong, I believe in paying my fair share in taxes. I really wish every “person” in America felt the same way.
The problem with taxes in America is the right wing wants to end Government entitlement programs while allowing the in-titled class to keep everything they have and anything they can grab from the rest of us…And just think, the constitution specifically disallows titles of any kind in this country.
