Over the past few days I noticed all of my Google AdSence blocks had disappeared. Also missing were some other blocks of code I had used a WordPress Plugin to place in my sidebars and footer areas.
I do not think the problem was wholly in the one plugin as it hadn’t updated in a while…Though evidently the problem was widespread enough for the authors to put together an upgrade. But as this is the second time I’ve had this trouble I figured I’d spend the time and clean up some other issues.
So long story short, I spent most of the morning moving code into text widgets and deleting the no longer operating advertisement widgets.
Can someone explain to me why there is no easy way to identify widgets without opening them and reading the code? Why isn’t there a non-displaying title box? It would sure make life a bit easier to see what you were working with if you didn’t have to switch from window to window to check your progress. I thought I had found a work around when I saw that after I deleted a title it stayed there just dimmed out in the widget display sidebar…Unfortunately, once you leave the page and return, the titles blank out.
While I was working my way through all of my sites I spotted that someone had visited one of my “About” pages today. It made me think…Had I actually made it through that to-do list I was working on back in the summer? Hmmm…I better look…Nope. Everyone of my “mountain Dreams” sites still had the WordPress about text showing up…Damn, that’s embarrassing. So half way through one back-end project I discover I need to take care of another…And so went my day…
How did your day go?
