Is it time to move my blog hosting to another provider?
Intermittent problems with pulling up back-end pages in my blogs is beginning to get to me. For months I have had problems with getting the “Add New Post” page to open over at North Carolina Mountain Dreams…Sometimes it opened right up, most of the time…not.
Now the problems have moved to this site. All morning I have been unable to get past the top level dashboard page. Any subpage would just eventually blank the window.
Now, here it goes, straight to the “Add New Post” page…And if you can read it, that will mean it actually posted…
The actual public side of the blogs are there and always have been…So it’s something on the back-end that isn’t working right. My son and I both atre of the opinion that its a server issue…But my hosting provider seems to thing I have plug-in issues. The problem with that is I have a number of identically set up blogs and the rest do not have the same issues…
Gary, I suspect your problems may be a combination of server issues and some with WP 2.9. I’m hearing several complaints about issues with 2.9 upgrades, although I upgraded Muse to 2.9 this morning and have not yet run into any problem.
Server memory, processor speed and load are factors on PhP MySQL powered sites. I recently migrated Muse from Drupal 6 to WP 2.8.6 because Drupal was becoming resource hungry, even on a dedicated server.
I’m not sure what hosts you are using but Coffee Muses loads slowly from my end (even with a 10 MB DSL connection). Ir I ping Coffee Muses I find that the slowness is not in connecting to the site but in the load times after the connection is made.
Looks like you are running on an overloaded server.
