Talk About A Long Leadup…

Amazingly, it seems likely Houston will see snow Friday, the city’s earliest ever white stuff.

Forecasters are still hedging their bets given all of the puzzle pieces that must fall into place for it to snow in Houston, but now say the most likely scenario is 2 to 4 inches of widespread snowfall beginning Friday afternoon.

Some areas may get half a foot.

“Even though we can’t say for sure this weather event is going to occur, we can definitely say our confidence has increased substantially compared to three or four days ago,” said Fred Schmude, a meteorologist with ImpactWeather, a private, Houston-based forecasting service.

Anticipation grows by the hour as the prognosticators expand their predictions of white fluffy stuff falling from the skies…Like the Christmas snow of 2004, the predictions are looking at the possibility of more snow to the south than to the north with the  highest accumulations along the coast…Go figure.

If it happens…Expect pictures to follow…even if they are from the front porch.

For the record, here is what it looked like on Christmas Morning 2004…
