Obama is the first political figure since Carter to understand the energy efficiency and conservation approach and actually try to present it to the American people. Republicans want to nip it in the bud — that’s why they are so aggressively jumping on the tire gauge thing. They want to make it seem like a small and silly response to a very big problem. But all the things we need to do will seem small and silly in isolation; it’s the portfolio approach that will work. If the truth about efficiency gets out — how much cheaper it is than new oil, how many more jobs it creates, how much more it does for the domestic economy — Republicans are well and truly screwed.

That pretty much tells the story…Everybody talks about making jobs…But actually doing the “right” thing will, in all liklihood end up making more.

    Yeah, I was REAL impressed by his tire inflation strategy:) It’s clear that Obama doesn’t have a clue about our challenges. He flip flopped on drilling just to keep up with the people’s demands.

    And if Republicans are screwed, then why do the polls show Obama slipping and McCain rising? Bush’s rating is also rising.

    How about the Democratic-led Congress? 14%, the lowest since Gallup has conducted polls. “The most recent decline comes almost exclusively from Democrats, whose approval of Congress fell from 23% in June to 11% in July, while independents’ and Republicans’ views of Congress did not change much. ”

  2. Jim I know it’s part of the talking points to use “flip flop” at every opportunity, but wouldn’t it work better if your guy wasn’t doing it?

    And yes, I watch the polls. I also understand the democrats frustration that one, nothing can get done because of the lack of enough votes to push anything past the Republicans. And two, that their own leaders tried decided not to take this President to task for the “high crimes and misdemeanors” that have been done in the name of this administration. So, yea, Congressional approval is pretty much in the tank.

    I am afraid though that the more I see of Senator McCain, the more I worry about the future of this country. More of the same is not what we need. This country is rapidly falling apart and all we hear from the Republican Candidate is more tax cuts and more welfare for the corporations…I’ll place my bets on the democrats and my trust in America…

    OMG, I have heard some kooky allegations before, but I guess that is the Democrat party these days. I bet Batman could help you bring Bush to trial.
