I woke up this morning and spring appears to have made a return…At least for a couple of days. The house is open, windows and doors, and the cool breezes are blowing through. The temperature this morning at daybreak (54°) was the same as in Floyd, Va on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The only difference is we will hit the 80’s today and they will stay in the 60’s. But no matter what, I’ll be happy to embrace one more day of spring (or what passes for it here in SE Texas) before summer settles in for good.
Has anyone been following the weather in northern California? I have to wonder what it’s doing to the vines in Napa and Sonoma. As a wine drinker (lover), that kinda’ matters to me now. Add in the tornado season we seem to be having and who knows what this summer will bring…
In other news…
The Orchard at Altapass opened for another season this weekend…They are celebrating the 100th year of apple growing at the orchard this season. If you happen to be in the area, stop in and say “Hi” to Bill, Judy, Kit and Gretchen. The Orchard is always on our trip agenda when we are in the area…The apple blossoms should be at their peak about now.
This year we are raising one heck of a crop of squirrels. Just now there must have been at least a dozen playing tag in the oak above the kitchen door. They sure are making one heck of a racket as they chase each other up and down the limbs…
