This could explain the Republican love affair with GW Bush…

Michael Gerson – Sticking Points for Obama – washingtonpost.com
A president is expected to be a patriotic symbol himself, not the arbiter of patriotic symbols. He is supposed to be the face-painted superfan at every home game; to wear red, white and blue boxers on special marital occasions; to get misty-eyed during the most obscure patriotic hymns.

Evidently, thought is not required…pandering to expectations is. I guess this explains the narrative of the 2000 election where George W was the one the press kept pushing as the candidate you would like to sit down and have a beer with. You know the guy…makes up funny derogatory nicknames for everyone…recovering alcoholic who doesn’t drink. Yea, just the person I want to have a sit down with over beer…

Then we have this…

Charles Krauthammer – Too Late to the Duck Hunt – washingtonpost.com
The line of attack is clear: not that Obama is himself radical or unpatriotic, just that, as a man of the academic left, he is so out of touch with everyday America that he could move so easily and untroubled in such extreme company and among such alien and elitist sentiments.

“So out of touch with everyday America…”, Mr. Krauthammer when was the last time you had to live life as an “everyday American”? I know, your analysis is of Hillary’s lack of a plan to give Republican’s the Democratic candidate they dreamed of, but get over it.

The “academic left”…as opposed to who? George W went to the same schools, are you saying he just couldn’t or wouldn’t apply himself to the subjects being taught? Does that make our present President a member of the academic right?

The conventional wisdom since Tuesday’s primaries is that the Hillary & Bill Show has run it’s course…My question is…Who has to tell Hillary? She seems to have not heard the shouting in the streets.

Eugene Robinson – The Card Clinton Is Playing – washingtonpost.com
“It’s still early,” Clinton said Wednesday, vowing to fight on. At some level, she seems to believe the nomination is hers. Somebody had better tell her the truth before she burns the house down.

It’s freeway roulette time…catch you on the  other side…
