A Backlash Against Bickering

E. J. Dionne Jr. – A Backlash Against Bickering – washingtonpost.com: “The irony is that Bush has fostered a backlash against himself, against ideology and against partisanship that, as a former governor, he should have seen coming.”

As Governor of Texas, Bush had a very strong democratic legislature to work with and very weak (by constitution) executive power, he had no choice but to act in a bi-partisan manner. When he tried to force his agenda he was overridden in the legislature. Had Bush been left in Texas for another election cycle, the chances are, his failings as a chief executive would once again have become apparent…too bad, huh?

The amazing thing is the MSM managed to overlook the history and report the myth as written by Rove. Of course it helps when your candidate has no scruples about standing up in front of the cameras and repeated bald faced lies that could have been fact checked by any cub reporter. The question becomes, why weren’t they?
