It’s the first day of July

And, it’s Friday

Rain, rain everywhere… Just not here.

More often than not, the radar image above is the way the rain pattern around here looks. Rain will move right up to the edge of my hometown and stop falling. I can watch it happen in real time. It’s almost as if there’s a rain barrier wrapped around Alvin.

Though as the second image shows, all of the brushes with the showers have managed to drop 4/10 of an inch in the last 24 hours. And believe me, there is no way I will complain about any rain that falls. Our grass, our trees, and every other living thing in our area needs every drop.

As I dictate these words, thunder rumbles in the distance. Looking out the front door, puddles stand on the driveway… And in all actuality, the slow, almost non-existent, rain is just what the doctor ordered. I doubt very much of it has run off anywhere. More likely it is being sucked up by the plants on the surface before it even soaks into the ground…

So as I said here waiting for more rain to settle in… Let me wish everyone an enjoyable 4th of July weekend…

And while you enjoy this weekend that honors founding of our country maybe just say a prayer or two that we can still celebrate our democracy in the coming years… So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our dysfunctional nation…

I’ll catch up with y’all down the road.
