Friday

This morning dawned clear and cool… again. The day is sunny and destined to rise into the mid 70’s. Just another ride on the rollercoaster that is SE Texas weather. Tomorrow’s high is forecast to be 60 degrees at 5am… From there on the prognosticators are foretelling of a windy and cooler day. If their predictions come anywhere close to reality, Sunday will open with a feels like low in the 20’s… Chilly for our area for sure.

My spending so much time in my music library is bringing into focus how many of the albums there are of women singers. Usually it’s a quality in their voice that catches my attention. It’s not necessarily the beauty so much as that special tonal quality. I don’t know how to explain it exactly… Other than to say… My favorite singers on the Voice almost never make it to the finals. From what I can say about myself is I tend to lean towards the singer/songwriter type of artist. Especially those with a offbeat sense about them.

Way back in 1995 I fell in love with a singer… I had no idea who she was… I had only discovered her when I went exploring the distribution CD’s for Win’95. At the time all that I knew was the song title… Good Times. I managed to save the video file and move it from computer to computer for over a decade before I lost track of it. At some point I googled “who was the win95 good times singer?” and that was when I discovered it was Edie Brickell. I also discovered that by that time she was married to Paul Simon… Here’s that video… enjoy… I know I have for almost three decades…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and say a prayer for our dysfunctional country and the world… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…
