Another blustery near miss morning. Hurricane Delta is about 180 miles south-southeast of Galveston. This morning’s winds are blowing almost east to west at the moment. A few weeks ago the morning temperature would have made me smile, but after a couple of weeks of fall-like temperatures I’m just not impressed.

It’s raining lightly. If it wasn’t for the umbrella I have left open and on it’s side to block the rising sun, the rain blowing across the porch would have driven me in already.

From the looks of the radar we won’t be seeing much if any sun today.

Today’s photos were all taken right at sunrise which should give you an indication of the thickness of the cloud cover.

I’ve only heard or seen a handful of birds out fighting the winds and rains… not that the rain is much of a problem so far. The winds are pretty steady at about 20 mph with gusts to about 30.

I can’t help but feel sorry for our neighbors in Louisiana. They just keep finding themselves under the gun with mother nature. As I understand it Delta will be following closely on Laura’s track. From my experience with hurricanes I doubt they are very far along on cleanup from the earlier storm.

Hell, I can remember storms in the 80’s when we were without power for three weeks… not fun at all.

Everyone on the gulf coast needs to hunker down and get ready to ride out another one today and tomorrow. And just think, there’s another month left to the season…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world, and today say an extra bit of prayer for Louisiana, they’re gonna need it.

  1. Yup. Same here. A little windy, and getting a bit windier; a little rainy, with more on the way. I’m clearly taking a day off work, whether I want to or not. Truth to tell, I don’t, but I don’t have any choice in the matter. It’s time for another cuppa and a bit of attitude adjustment!
