Muggy, overcast skies, light breeze… feels like summer morning coffee muses.

The sun is breaking thru, and the heat is on. Looking at the forecast, we don’t drop below seventy till Sunday morning. Then for a few days we’ll drop into the upper sixties before getting stuck again in the seventies again for the nightly lows.

I don’t even want to talk about the daily highs. The forecast says next week we’ll be pushing 90° on a number of days. Which means that we’ll be a few degrees warmer if our normal pattern holds. The backyard weather station is reporting a temperature of 79° this very minute.

On another note, the winds have been just crazy. Yesterday I watched a cardinal fly backwards and land on the feeder out front. He was literally flying one direction but the wind was blowing him backwards so he grabbed the feeder and held on.

I just heard a real racket from the feeder. When I looked up there were ten chickadees on the two blocks of seeds. At least half appeared to be fledglings begging for food… which explains the racket.

I have plumbers coming this morning. The kids bathtub faucet malfunctioned on Tuesday night. First, no hot water would come out, then it wouldn’t turn off. I managed to put caps on the pipes to shut it off until a plumber could get here. Now to find out how much it’s going to cost to fix…

I was sitting inside watching the TV yesterday afternoon, and from my chair I could see the butterfly weed. As I watched a hummingbird visited each and every bloom.

It’s that time again, coffee cup needs refilling and I need to retreat inside were summer is still just a bad idea…
