A quiet Saturday morning on the back porch…

October 11th 2025

It’s almost a fall-like morning. And it says a lot, that for us here in Southeast Texas, a fall like morning has a temperature of 75°.

Needless to say, the ceiling fans are working at a vigorous rate. And if it wasn’t for the moderate humidity… I wouldn’t be sitting out here at all.

Though I must say, that for 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday, it’s very quiet out. Just an occasional bird song to interrupt the sigh of the wind through the tree leaves.

And as the picture above shows, the skies today are very, very blue.

So I think I will go back to enjoying my book as I sit in my rocker under the fans and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I hope the two, maybe three of you out there on the internet who might read this missive have a very good day.

  1. By tomorrow, I might be able to take advantage of some of these better conditions. I had a Mohs surgery on Thursday, and had to sit tight that day and Friday. I just took the dressing off, and once I spend one more day “in confinement” I’ll be out and about. I have to be careful at work next week, but the stitches come out Thursday. I must say — I look like I was on the losing end of a bar fight!

    1. Sorry to hear about your surgery. I hope they got everything. I must say I only lasted a short time longer on the back porch. The way the sun hits the concrete it warms up quickly. And to a much higher temperature than the air in the shade does.
