2023 Day 217

Saturday August 5th

I was in no hurry to get up and get moving this morning. So here it is not quite an hour before noon and I’m still drinking coffee. As you can see from the pictures above it’s hot, it’s dry.. like most past Augusts the grass is seared brown. Just looking at my backyard makes me long for those few and far between Augusts for the grass was actually green.

The highs this week have been flirting around the 100° mark each day. The radar has shown very, very few rain showers anywhere across the state of Texas. It doesn’t look like much will change in the coming days.

I must say that the weather across Texas is the perfect metaphor for the devil in the governor’s mansion that is ruling over the hell that the state has become.

I’ve always felt slightly out of step with the majority of my fellow Texans.. but these days I really find myself wondering what the hell has happened to the humanity in the state that prides itself on being friendly. Though I must admit, I’m seeing fewer and fewer of the road signs that remind us to “drive friendly” than I did growing up.

Oh well, I don’t think much is going to change in the foreseeable future.. not the weather.. not the politics.. not the way we treat each other…

Try and stay cool on this hot summer’s day and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
