“A combination of slightly cooler temperatures and slightly lower dewpoints means that the National Weather Service, for the first time in more than two weeks, has not issued a heat advisory or an excessive heat warning for today. These moderately cooler temperatures—mostly highs in the mid-90s instead of upper 90s to 100 degrees—will continue for the rest of the work week before nature’s thermostat rises again.”

I was going to post a capture from the Space City Weather app this morning.. but, for some reason the app is stuck on yesterday afternoon. The shock of checking the current conditions and seeing a 93 for the current temperature before sunup is scary… Especially when the thermometer on the back porch is sending a temperature of 74 degrees to the receiver.
The U.S. Justice Department announced Monday it is suing Texas and Gov. Greg Abbott after the state declined to remove the floating barrier deployed earlier this month on the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass.
The lawsuit, filed in an Austin federal court, alleges the barrier was installed without necessary authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
“Because Texas installed the Floating Barrier without seeking the Corps’ authorization, the Corps and other relevant federal agencies were deprived of the opportunity to evaluate risks the barrier poses to public safety and the environment, mitigate those risks as necessary through the permitting process, and otherwise evaluate whether the project is in the public interest,” the lawsuit says.
The lawsuit also alleges that the floating barrier obstructs navigation on the river and demands that the state remove the barrier.
“President Biden’s border enforcement plan has led to the lowest levels of unlawful border crossings in over two years,” White House spokesperson Abdullah Hasan said in a written statement. “Governor Abbott’s dangerous and unlawful actions are undermining that effective plan, making it hard for the men and women of Border Patrol to do their jobs of securing the border, and putting migrants and border agents in danger.”
Over the years the politicians running Texas have done many things that are cringeworthy… But Governor Abbott has managed to push things almost as far to the right as his counterpart from Florida.
I guess my sentiment about both of these men is,,, I hope they reap in the afterlife what they are sowing in this one… I have a feeling that these tactics would even be frowned upon in times of war between two opposing armies, They damn sure aren’t the tactics of friendly neighbors.
Enough about old white men trying to look as tough as old white men acting in the movies… Y’all stay cool and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
