Tuesday July 18th
“By raw temperature values, June and July 2022 were each the hottest June and July that Houston experienced in about a century and a half of records. The average temperature last June was 86.7 degrees, and July was 88.0 degrees, both of which beat the previous monthly records by 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. So far, the average temperature in June and July has been slightly lower than the torrid pace of 2022. However, to me, this summer feels hotter, and a look at the underlying data reveals why this is so. We can see this in both the heat index—which factors in both temperature and dewpoint—as well as nighttime temperatures.”

Today I switched playlists on my background music… I’m spending my day listening to Texas Singer-Songwriters. Being Texas there’s a big majority of country leaning songs in the que… It wouldn’t have been my choice growing up. That was my Dad’s music. Mine leaned more to psychedelic rock. Over the years more and more Americana and alt-country made it into my rotation… But my radio stayed tuned to the rock stations in Houston.
Right now Stevie Ray Vaughan is playing “Leave My Girl Alone”…
Today is my day for doing laundry around here… A protest to doing the traditional Monday Laundry Day routine. Some might call it procrastination!
Now coming out of the speakers is my high school friend Freddy Krc’s band The Explosives collaboration with Roky Erickson of the 13th Floor Elevators “I Think Of Demons”.
Funny thing… The Jerry Jeff Walker song playing now also has Freddy Krc playing in it… Serendipity.
Well… Time for breakfast and chores… Y’all have a great day and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
