2023 Day 177

Monday June 26th

Well, it’s another day that I won’t be sitting on the back porch. Even with the ceiling fans on, an 80° day with a 78° dew point and a 94% humidity just isn’t conducive to back porch contemplation…

And look at that.. it already feels like 88° and it’s not even 7:00 a.m. .

It’s almost a week after the summer solstice and I look forward to the days getting shorter. Though around here summer usually runs well past the autumn equinox. I mean think about it, we still have a month and a half till we hit high summer.

You know, as I get older my worries about the Texas electrical grid grow steadily. When it feels like the temperatures are in the 110s or higher, lack of electricity for cooling becomes a nightmare. And sadly, Texas politicians have done everything in their power to sabotage the reliability of Texas’s electrical distribution and generation system. And to make matters worse, they have isolated the Texas grid from the rest of the country.

Only two groups of people have benefited from the system. The electrical generators and the politicians. But never let it be said that a Texas politician hasn’t met a regulation that couldn’t be weakened or eliminated…

Oh well, enough complaining about the weather and Texas politics. It’s a new week at almost the exact middle of the year. It’s just a week till the 4th of July.. so, I’m going to quit neglecting my coffee and get on with this day. Y’all have a great day and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
