2023 Day 138

Thursday May 18th

Blue Sky.. Sunshine.. A cool morning.. The temperature out this morning is a mild 71°. Which, when compared to some mornings in the past week or so, is positively spring like. What makes the morning so pleasant is the dew point, which is at 68°.

Even the soundscape has a summer like feel. Off in the distance someone is using a chainsaw. Construction equipment can be heard rattling and beep beep beeping.

Construction on the new subdivision is continuing at a feverish pace. I noticed framing for foundations going up on multiple lots in the front corner. I am assuming these will be the models. I must admit, that in the wide open the space of raw land, the foundations do not look overly large. Especially if you consider that each of them probably has a garage. And most garages in new neighborhoods around here seem to be two car garages.

It will be interesting to see just what they will be building on the 200 plus lots there laying out.

On the other hand, catching bits and pieces of the news.. excerpts from here and there.. getting a feel for the general direction of what is happening in this country.. I find myself asking… Where the hell has America gone?

Abortion bans.. legislation against LGBT.. banning books and threatening librarians with prison time.. trying to ban women from traveling for legal health care.. venerating criminals and despots.. what I see… What many see.. it’s not a make America great again movement but a make America white again movement. And to all the old white bigots out there I can only say that ship has sailed.. thank goodness.

I remember pre civil rights America, and it wasn’t great. Or maybe I should say it wasn’t great for everyone. So I really find myself sending my thoughts and prayers out that MAGA dies out quickly rather than over time…

I have a fresh loaf of bread that I baked yesterday calling my name to have toast and jam for breakfast. See y’all have a great day, try to keep a positive attitude in the screwed up world, and I’ll catch y’all on the other side…
