2023 Day 111

Friday April 21st

We had a very interesting night last night. Shortly after 4:00 a.m. a line of thunderstorms blew through our area. Heavy rain, lots of lightning and thunder.. it made for a very interesting early morning. My wife texted after she got to work that the street lights were out, the stop lights were out, and the under passes here in Alvin had water over the road and police were directing traffic.

But as you can see from the pictures above.. The storm has passed and the temperatures are a cool 67°. At the moment there’s absolutely no breeze blowing. But looking around the front yard I can see the ends of branches down all over indicating that we had a fairly decent breeze blow through with the storms.

Here’s a couple of radar images from just before and just after.. the timestamps are visible.

My day will be one of waiting for a plumber to replace a hot water heater in the attic. Hopefully, the job will be done before noon.

And just to continue the theme from yesterday, here’s another song from 1972… And even though I can remember hearing it back in the day… I doubt I’ve thought about it in the 5 decades since… Just saying.

I hope all of y’all enjoy your day.. TGIF.. I’ll catch y’all on the other side.

  1. We got some rain, but the storminess missed us. It was close — Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Dickinson all had thunder, lightning, and wind, but we were in one of those small slots that sometimes set up. I’m glad for the rain, though. They say Galveston got 4″.

    1. I just looked and my rain gauge is showing 1.5 inches. Not bad for a couple of hours…
