2023 Day 71

Sunday March 12th

The temperature is 71°. Humidity is at 89%. Daylight savings time is in effect… Again. So, I guess I should change my clocks… The only ones that really matter most are the alarm clocks in the bedroom… And yes we still use digital alarm clocks.

I would have never thought I would be so enamored with a subscription music service… But, just as I was about to cancel my subscription to Amazon Music my wife asked for me to set it up with a family account so she could stream it in the OR for one of the doctors. Truth be told, I haven’t a clue if she’s ever actually used it… But I find myself listening to it regularly.

What I really like it the ability to add an artist to a playlist. I have found myself getting lost deep in some artists back catalog and enjoying song that never managed to get onto the airways.

Which brings me to the song by Jerry Jeff Walker… One of the early outlaw cowboys. Also, someone I’ve had a bit of a personal connection to since the 1970’s. You see, a guy I knew in high school was his drummer for a while back then. Freddy Krc, we met at a high school dance where his band was playing. It turned out we had back history we didn’t even know. Our parents grew up together.

That brings us to this song itself… And as I listen to it I almost felt like it was about me staring at myself and not recognizing the me I had become.. have a listen.

There’s a closet full of worn out boots, skeletons and three-piece suits
A million hats and attitudes and very few regrets
And here I stand in faded jeans, an old t-shirt that don’t say a thing
And who knows what tomorrow brings, it ain’t over yet
Ron Davies and Jeff Silbar
