I’ve gotten out of the habit of putting these posts out in the ether… But, today the kids are back in school, the house is empty, and Eric Clapton is playing on the computer… Also, finally the never-ending summerlike weather has broken for a few days. We even fell into the 20’s a couple of days ago. Though… the whole time the temperatures were hovering in the 80’s throughout December. the days were overcast and looked as cold as they should have been. Now that the temperatures are more seasonable… It’s bright and sunny outside…

As I was waiting in the car for the buses to arrive this morning I was listening to the radio. The news was of the jump in Covid cases across the southeast. It seems I was hearing about 500% increases in many areas. Hospitals are once again under pressure. And all of this was after I noticed a dramatic decrease in the number of people out in the grocery stores unmasked… Southeast U.S. poised for a firestorm of omicron cases, with few safeguards in place

Hell, all of our family gatherings thru the holidays were mask required. Both Christmas and New Years we spent with family, all masked, all vaccinated, most boosted… And still, caution mandated that we try our best to protect ourselves and our guests.

I can’t understand why my fellow Americans feel such anger and disdain for such an innocuous piece of cloth. Seeing their defiance as a stand for freedom… I guess it is a stand for the freedom to act as uninformed as they wish we all were…
