We’re just waiting for the weather to change… Me and the hummingbirds… There are dozens swarming around the feeders front and back. They and I are waiting for the cold front the prognosticators are promising us in the next couple of days. Me… I’ll enjoy sitting on the porch once more. The hummingbirds will be hitching a ride on the north wind across the Gulf of Mexico.

Most years we go through a couple of waves of migrating hummingbirds, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens after this front blows through. We never completely lose all the hummers. A few hang through the winter. And, for the past few years or so, winter brings a male Rufous Hummingbird to visit till spring sucks him back to the Rockies…
