I woke up this morning due to the chill in the air in the house. Overnight, the house is temperature had dropped to 58°. Not bad, compared to some of my neighbors, one of whom reported last night on Facebook that her house was at 47°. Compared to the outside temperature of 17°, it was really quite balmy.
Of course, for the second day in a row, the power is still out. The automated system at the power company is still informing me that the estimated time of repair is at 10:00 a.m. on Monday February the 15th. That announcement has been playing since Monday at about 5:00 a.m. and it hasn’t been updated.
Waking up to coffee bags is not particularly my way of easing into the daylight hours. While tea bags work well, coffee bags just don’t quite cut it. And since we no longer seem to have a stove top percolator, it is what it is.
At least, when all is said and done, our water is running and the house, thanks to the two boxes of Duraflame logs, is still reasonably warm.
Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, stay warm if you can, and pray for our nation and the world.
Have a wonderful day.
Oh, here’s the record shots that didn’t get put up yesterday…
Ha! I was right in the middle of leaving a comment when the power went out. Here’s a question for you. When the power went out, of course I lost my wifi. But, I usually can connect my ipad through Verizon, and it wouldn’t connect. The little wheel kept spinning, but no go. Even when I went into the settings and turned off the wifi, leaving only my Verizon as a way to connect, it wouldn’t. Do you have any clues about that? There have been problems with mobile phones around the area this morning and last night, so maybe it was (is) a Verizon problem rather than the iPad.
Anyway: the power’s back now, so I’m going to warm up the house and make a pot of coffee before it goes out again! Stay safe!
Hey Linda, I hope your power is still on. They gave us a tease at 3:00 a.m. are there about, we had power for all of 30 minutes. That’s for your Verizon problem, it seems all of the cell phone networks are having issues. It’s hit or miss as to whether you can connect to the internet or not. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can’t. I’m sure it’s a matter of too many connections at one time for the node you’re connecting to. With the power out everybody’s Wi-Fi is down.
Stay warm if you can. We’re sitting in the dark still and probably will be for a while yet.
Found out that multiple (read: gazillions) of cell towers are out of commission. No fuel to keep back-up generators running or iced up equipment, apparently. I managed to get a call through to a friend near Santa Fe, but can’t connect to the eye doc in Houston to find out if the office is open. If I don’t know that for sure, I’m certainly not driving in for an appt this morning.
