It’s a chill 30° this morning out in the yard. Frost on the grass. Birds on the feeder. Birds on the wing from tree to tree. Cardinals singing the sun up.
Took quite a few minutes this morning for the ice on the windshield to melt as we waited for the bus at the road. It wasn’t really warmer in the car until the second trip to the road with the second grandkid. By then the car had warmed up, the ice at all melted on the windows. And of course the buses, they were a bit later than normal, on a cold, cold winter’s day. I say cold, but in actuality 30° is not that cold. At least not, for the northern tier of states. Even North Texas sees 30° on a regular basis. But not here on the Texas gulf coast, here 30° is an event.
The goldfinches have been swarming to the feeders the last weeks. Along with chickadees and tufted titmice. An occasional Carolina Wren joins the smorgasbord. Once in a while, the pine warbler will show up. Out in the trees along the edge of the yard bunches of starlings fly about and land underneath to peck and pick through the detrus of the leaves and the weeds.
Well the sun is up, my third cup of coffee is history, so I guess I need to get up and move. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our nation. According to what I hear in the news the crazies out there feel emboldened to take their arms and march to the different capitals around the country. We need to pray, that our democracy stands through these trying times of unbelievers in basic facts.
Maybe someone can explain to me what it is about Trump flags that appeals to his followers. I’ve never seen flags for any other president in these numbers if at all. I don’t recall Bush flags, I don’t recall Obama flags. And I haven’t seen any Biden flags, have you? So what is it about Trump and Trump supporters that they wave the flag of Trump? Just wondering…
