7:35 am Full Moon Setting
7:36 am Sun Under Horizon

Walking out to last night’s full moon settling towards the western horizon as the sun rises to the east… nice.

This is what the sunrise schedule is for this morning as we slide into fall.

  • 6:00am Start of astronomical twilight
  • 6:28am Start of nautical twilight
  • 6:56am Start of civil twilight
  • 7:20am Sunrise
6:28am Start of nautical twilight

Compared to yesterday morning, it’s really much quieter out. Traffic on the bypass isn’t as loud. As a matter of fact, most of the traffic sounds are coming from the opposite side of the house…

Birds are just beginning to sing and call individually. A crow here, a cardinal there, here a mockingbird, there a wren, over on the feeder a hummingbird…

It’s not quite as cool this morning.  The overnight low was just 61 degrees. Though, the app on my phone is calling it 59 degrees. The forecast for the day is calling for it to be a few degrees cooler. And that trend will extend into the weekend. It looks like a good day to mow the yard.

In my book fall isn’t quite here yet. Even though the cool air feels good… the goldenrod at the end of the porch hasn’t even begun to show signs of yellow at the tips of the stems. My wife and I continuously debate the merits of goldenrod as a flower. To her they are weeds and should be cut down. Luckily for the goldenrod, I am the chief weed cutter around here so they live on year after year.

Well, the cup is empty… and the coffee pot is calling my name. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world. And whatever you do, go vote.

  1. Goldenrod suffers from being confused with ragweed. It’s such a good plant for pollinators, and I think it’s beautiful. You can count me as seriously pro-goldenrod!
