Another almost cool morning on the front porch. Also, another showery start to the day. This time the storms are coming up from the south.

As you can see, again we are dead in the sights of one of the showers. The prognosticators are foretelling of this pattern of showers and sun to last for the next ten days or so. So, as the cicadas start to sing, we can at least look forward to the grass staying green even if it’s longer than normal.

“Our” whistling ducks are out and about the yard. At least a couple were on the ground this morning before lifting into a live oak tree. The first bird I heard this morning was the neighborhood pileated woodpecker. It’s still calling occasionally from the neighbors.

Mourning doves are cooing their melancholy sound. They have been spending more time around for the last week or so. Of course, the blue Jays and the cardinals are all over the property. Hummingbirds come and go from the feeders. Mockingbirds make their appearance, even though they haven’t been prone to song.

It’s time to take it in and start breakfast. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful summers day.
