Another bright morning on the back porch. The ceiling fans are turning even though the temperature is mild. The cardinals are making their presence known with their song. Along with the mourning doves, that’s about the only sounds on this weekend morning.
A lite breeze is rustling the leaves. Low seventies on the thermometer makes it pleasant. While the nineties by afternoon aren’t so much… pleasant, that is.
It’s another Coronavirus weekend. Cases are climbing, and yet, face mask use seems to be sporadic. The Harris County Judge would like to impose more restrictions, but she’s been overruled by the Texas Governor. What’s with the face mask phobia of the Republican Party?
We’ve now reached the milestone of about 1,000 deaths each and every day. Even if we just maintain that rate, think what that’s going to mean by election day. Over 100,000 more Americans dead from hubris.
Just imagine, if we could learn from history, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. I’m not saying we wouldn’t have a pandemic… that was going to happen at some point. I’m saying we wouldn’t be having such a failure of a response. But, like I said… history. Donald Trump has only ever succeeded at two things… spending daddy’s money and playing himself on TV. Neither of which gave him a skill set to run the country. And if you look at how he ran his businesses, the pattern was set years ago… except the United States of America can’t file for bankruptcy and get a do over loan from Russia.
But like all bad things in life, this too will pass. Hopefully, enough of us will live through it to put the country back together.
But enough about the failure of politics in America… enough about the breakdown of polite society.
It’s getting late, I need to do something about breakfast and my cup is running low… Stay healthy, stay safe, wear a mask when you go out in public…
Coffee overlooking a great view equals perfect day.
