Friday, August Seventeenth

The first Friday in the new school year morning coffee muses.

And happy birthday Mother Goose… I hope your day is filled with happiness.

Tomorrow we gather to celebrate my mom’s 85th birthday next week.

The heat is already hitting 90°. The mosquitoes are buzzing everywhere.

The first bird on my feeder this morning was a Carolina chickadee. He was followed by tufted titmouses and more chickadees.

Don’t be fooled by the images accompanying this post… while I stepped out on the back porch to take the shots, it’s the front porch I’m sitting on. There is just so much more shade on the front porch.

My sister just called on her way to the airport to pick up her son for tomorrow’s festivities. She wanted to give me a heads up on the family drama that’s playing out… can’t say I’m surprised. But, happy I’m not.

My cup is empty, my brow is wet, and the heat is rising… I’m heading in.
