July Thirtieth, Monday

The heat is the heat of a Texas summer combined with a Gulf Coast humidity… just two more months of summer morning coffee muses.

After beginning to wonder about the lack of blue jay sightings a couple of weeks back, I am happy to report they are back in force. I am seeing more now than earlier in the season. As a matter of fact, blue jays were on the front feeder as I walked out this morning.

It’s extremely quiet this morning. No cicadas, not much in the way of birdsong. Little traffic is moving on the road this Monday morning. Way off in the distance a siren is sounding. It’s as if the world is waiting for something to happen.

For once it’s nice to be in the middle of the country. With fires to the west, floods to the east and record breaking highs all over this summer, our everyday heat and humidity summertime woes aren’t all that woeful. Though, I must admit I’m missing that week long vacation in the mountains and the lower mountain temperatures.

My coffee cup is empty, the sun is beginning to hit the back of my neck… it appears to be time to wander in and check the day’s events…
