Monday, June fourth

Warm, overcast, and humid start to my morning coffee muses.

It’s the start of another week, another month, in the continuing muses of my mornings. We are closing in on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Ike. After Harvey last year, I’d just as soon not have a repeat of either.

A lot has happened in these last ten years. Ike was just the tip of the iceberg.

Pardon me while I chase the memories of the last ten years through the bookshelves of my brain…

I’m not sure what triggered that flood of nostalgia… births, birthdays, anniversary trips to the hill country, summer vacations to the mountains, Christmas with the family. Memories, happy and sad, filling a decade of my life. To the point where I can now spend an hour or so, more or less, just musing about the now that is each morning.

Prior to 2008 my coffee muses were in the thirty minutes I had between getting dressed for work and leaving on my commute. And, they literally where coffee muses, meandering on the internet over my first cup of coffee… sharing the interesting links I found along the way.

The internet has changed so much in the past ten years. No longer is it the domain of bloggers and rss feeds. Instead of Google Reader we now have Facebook… Somehow I don’t think it’s an improvement.

In 2008 we elected Barack Obama. History being made. An intelligent, thoughtful man as President of the United States… Damn, it seems like a lifetime ago.

My coffee’s gone, the heat is rising, I’m going in before I end up focussing on the recent political past and depress myself.
