Friday, the eleventh of May

There isn’t the hint of chill in the air for this morning coffee muses.

The day is starting out with more clouds in the sky. The crows of yesterday are raising a ruckus again, way off over the bayou. Speaking of bayous, I always assumed that with it’s Louisiana predominance, bayou was of French origin. Yesterday I learned it was Indian, Choctaw I believe, for little river. The trivia we pick up.

It’s a bit sticky out today. Ah yes, 85% humidity, sticky is a good descriptor.

The world is still green, but, if we don’t get some rain it won’t stay that way long. The last few rain events haven’t been rain events here locally. That last front barely wet the driveway, I’ve seen more moisture from the morning dew. We are seeing plenty of gulf moisture moving over us, but the rains are falling further inland. For the past few years the demarcation between rain and not rain is running along I10.

But, the breeze still blows. It seems to be blowing harder and more sustained throughout the day than anything I remember from years past. I guess, living where I do, we are seeing the sea breeze effect, just magnified by the rising temperatures.

The peacocks are loud this morning.

My coffee is gone and I’m waiting for a return call from the plumbers… I think I’ll go in and enjoy another cup and some AC before I come out and meditate on the Deere in the heat…
