2023 Day 94

Tuesday March 4th

It’s 74° with gusty winds on this very humid and somewhat sticky morning. The winds are out of the south. Therefore it’s still on the front porch as I want to wait for the bus to get the kids… The wind chimes are singing softly.

You know, for a road that has a no trucks sign at the corner, the number of dump trucks that go by here in a given day is amazing. The width of the road here is barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other in opposite directions. But that doesn’t seem to matter to the truck drivers trying to shave a couple of minutes off of their trip.

Add to that the fact that at the city/county border sits a bridge that was deemed not safe for school buses over 10 years ago. And since that time, nothing has been done to fix the situation. But loaded dump trucks bouncing over it multiple times a day hasn’t caused any government entity to do anything about it. Even though every other bridge in the county, that I’ve seen, has been replaced.

I’ve been told that neither the city nor the county wants to claim jurisdiction for this bridge. Although the county maintains the drainage ditch that the bridge spans. I will say that whenever they decide to replace this bridge I will enjoy the peace and quiet that is caused by the removal of the old bridge. Judging by the replacements I’ve seen in the past it’ll take two, three months minimum.

Speaking of that drainage ditch.. it is also the overflow between the bayou and the new subdivision they are building to the north. It’s not a very big ditch. I can foresee times in the future when it will be full from the drainage of all the new streets.

If nothing else the video of March Sunrises gives you a good idea of just how many days last month started out overcast…

Well my coffee cup is calling.. so y’all have a good day and I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
