Another overcast start to a New Year’s day. I am out on the back porch once again and the temperature this morning is a balmy 72°… Not a temperature many of us associate with the first of January. Especially not with the start of a day in January.

But not to worry… There is no climate change here! We’ve always experienced temperatures like this in winter time… Not! But, it’s a heck of a note when the only pleasant time to sit out on my back porch is winter…

And once again, it’s quiet and peaceful out here. I hear almost no traffic on the bypass. I hear the chickens talking around the corner. And the birds are chirping here and there. And the flocks are flying overhead.

But, looking around at the remnants of the woods that used to surround this place, I see winter coloration throughout. We definitely went into the gray season for this year.

The prognosticators are foretelling of rain in our forecast. And it really feels like it this morning… A little damp, a little breezy, and it’s getting darker not lighter.
