monday

There’s a train going by as I sit on the front porch waiting for the school bus. It’s so much louder now that the entirety of the construction site has been cleared of trees. 105 acres denuded.

Now that the train has gone by, The sounds of construction have become prominent. Backup beepers, backhoe buckets clunking, dump trucks dumping their loads… All are sounds I’ve become accustomed to.

At least the mornings are still cool. No fans required… The bus has stopped and gone. But it feels really nice out, so I think I’ll sit awhile…

It’s getting dry here again. It’s been almost a month since we had a measurable rain. I’m not hearing any hummingbirds this morning… I’m sure there’s one or two hanging around. But most seem to have headed south for the winter. I’ll keep the feeders up all winter long for the few resident ruby throats and the occasional Rufous that shows up for the winter.

Well, as much fun as this is I need to move on for the morning… So I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
