It’s the 14th day of July

It’s Thursday

I was dragged reluctantly from my slumber by the distant rumblings of thunder at 5am this morning. As I lay there listening… contemplating the rarity of this sound lately… thinking I really should watch this rare event… moisture falling from the sky… RAIN. So I stumbled out of bed, and of course since it’s still dark out, I opened my computer first and watched as this, not so rare event unfolded…

And the near misses are becoming a thing…

And so, once again, like a bride left standing at the alter… the promise of rain was taken back at the last minute… It happened again last evening. And the evening before. It’s like there is a dome over our town. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it happen over the last few months. Rain will move thru the area but a hole will open as it arrives at our dot on the radar map… Our the thunderstorm will originate just at the edge of our dot, and then grow away from us before moving off and dumping on half the county…

Unkept promises… Cruel teases… Drought conditions in the making…

But in the middle of it all, we get this…

6:45 am 7/14/2022
6:45 am 7/14/2022

Well… The prognosticators are foretelling of improved chances of more near misses later in the day… So there’s always the chance of another trip up the aisle… Another hooded glance across the radar image… Another brief touch before the gesture is withdrawn, ever so shyly…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and say a prayer for our dysfunctional country and the world… I’ll catch y’all on the other side…

  1. Holy bananas, we’re getting dumped on. Heavy, heavy rain, T&L, etc. If the cell’s track holds, it’s headed for you. Fingers crossed!

    1. It was another near miss. Watching the radar is crazy as the rain just stops as it gets to Alvin… I’m glad you got some rain.
