Thursday

We lucked into one of the cooler mornings of the summer season. The temperature this morning at the time of the first bus is 65°. The sun is beginning to light the trees.

The sound of the day is the song of the cardinal. One of the most common birds in my yard. They’re always seems to be a multitude of pairs raising young through the summer.

I heard my first whistling ducks this morning. I haven’t seen any in my trees… But that will come as the summer deepens.

I took a drive yesterday afternoon to pick up my eldest at her workplace and take her home. In the process I drove around the new neighborhood that’s being built just the other side of the properties across the street. They have really stripped the trees and shrubs off that property. It’s really kind of sad… One of the nicest sunrises I’ve ever captured on film (or digitally ) was over that hundred acre pasture. I’ll try to drop in a copy of the image from inside.

From what I could see, they’re starting to chew into the remnant of woods that comes to the road in front of my next door neighbor’s place. I’ve been awaiting that happening with some dread because, it would be a perfectly sized opening for an access road into the neighborhood. Even if dumping that much traffic onto our narrow blacktop lane will create multitudes of havoc…
