Earth Day
It’s another beautiful spring morning. The temperature is 54°. The sun is rising a little earlier each day. As we sit out waiting for the buses, a majority of the cars traveling the road no longer have their headlights on.
I’ve also noticed it’s quieter out these past few mornings. Not as much morning bird song as there had been for the past few weeks. I suppose most of our resident birds have found a mate and settled into their territories. It shouldn’t be too long before we start hearing the chitter chatter of baby birds.
Already in the progression of the seasons, the sun is transitioning in the house. It won’t be long before the sun shines on the front porch again. And then the back porch will stay in shade all day long.
Well, I need to walk out to the road with the garbage bins. It used to be necessary to put them out the night before because on our old route we were the first pickups. That means the truck would hit our house by 7:15 most mornings. Now our place on the route is so late that sometimes they completely forget us. We’ve only been with the new company for a few short months and already I’ve had to call for missed pickups a half dozen times.
I hear a train whistle… It really doesn’t appear as if it’s moving. So there’s no telling what it’s announcing. It’s a sound that hasn’t impinged upon my awareness a whole lot these past few months. I really don’t know why… I’m sure there’s just as many trains running up and down the track as there’s always been.
Well I’ve got to go, so… Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for the nation and the world. Have a wonderful Earth Day.
