Waiting for the bus this morning, it’s chilly out… And windy… As you can see the thermometer on the car says it’s 48°, and watching the bushes and the trees dance in the wind tells me I’m under dressed.
But, the winds have swept the skies clear of clouds. The sun is coming up into a faultless expanse of unblemished blue. Yesterday’s high temperatures in the ’80s will seem like a distant memory today as we barely make 70° for a high. Looking at a weather forecast yesterday I saw that Lowe’s for forecast to be record-breaking all the way down into Northeast Texas. They were even predicting multiple inches of snow in St Louis.
As I was walking back in from taking out a bag of garbage, I watched a couple of whistling ducks fly across the yard and circle around and land in one of my oaks. I don’t know what it is that makes seeing ducks in trees so happy making.
Well, I can report that so far two days after my second vaccination I am still showing no side effects. My eldest is getting her first shot this afternoon. I think she might be the last in the family to get vaccinated.
I suppose I should comment on yesterday’s conviction of Derek Chauvin. The problem I have is I don’t see this as a change in policing in America. It feels more like a one-off. I mean, for real, how many black men and women have been killed by police just during the time of the trial? It feels to me like the mentality of the war on drugs has infected the very nature of policing. Once upon a time police officers were considered peace officers. Now it seems as though too many approach interactions with the public as confrontations with an enemy. I’m not saying I’ll do, I’m not saying I’m majority do, but in this always on news society even a few taints the rest.
Just my humble opinion for what it’s worth…
Time to wrap this one up. Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and pray for our nation and the world.
Have a wonderful day.
