When I stepped out to grab my record pics this morning the above was attached to the back wall at eye level. The crazy thing is, there’s no milkweed in the vicinity this year. What I was actually trying to capture was this…

Cloudless blue skies reflected in the dew covered windows. The prognosticators having foretold of a higher chance of rain today than we had yesterday, I’m unsurprised by the lack of clouds.

Yesterday’s lower chance of rain had us listening to thunder most of the day even if we only had a couple of showers.

All of a sudden, the air is filled with birdsong. Chickadees, cardinals, Carolina wrens, blue jays… birds singing and calling all around the yard.

It’s a really beautiful morning. Not too warm yet today. Sunshine and blue sky. Green trees and grasses. And we are almost to August. Summer’s still coming.

As the season progresses, the sun begins to transit the house. The back porch takes on less shade of a morning as the front porch takes on even more. At some point I have to abandon the back porch until the morning temperatures reach the point that they make the sunshine feel good. Even then it’s a balancing act between sun in eyes and warmth on the skin.

Once again, the coffee cup has been emptied. Time to head in…

Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation… the cool aid is getting surprisingly deep out here.

    1. The end of the porch used to have a large clump of milkweed. Every year would bring dozens of chrysalis attached to every conceivable overhang. I’ve even seen multiples attached to the rocking chair I sit in.
