Out early on the back porch. There are enough thunder clouds to the east to make the sun work at shining down on the wet earth. Dew glistens all around me. Condensation runs down the windows. There is a smell of wet moldy earth in the heavy air.
Somewhere around the yard some young birds are berating their parents for food. It appears to be about the only sounds there are.
Once again the prognosticators are foretelling of a good chance that we will have rain. And looking about me here, the thunder clouds are really towering as they come in of the gulf. Slowly, ever so slowly, they drift north. They look impressive in the early morning light against the clear blue sky.
My wife has noticed a lessening of traffic these last few days on her drive to and from work. I wonder if the folks who have actually been reopening have reversed the process… at least a little. Today she goes to a funeral for a young coworker who passed unexpectedly, and unrelated to the virus. My only hope is that she is careful. I keep thinking about how many of the early outbreaks happened at funerals.
My family has to travel to central Texas this Saturday to bury her mom. Another gathering of family to worry about. It’s a sad thing when saying goodbye to loved ones is cause for concern that you may be joining them because you said goodbye… Our novel normal.
Once again, the time has come to say until tomorrow… Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a happy day…
I’m sorry to hear about the reason for your travel. I sure hope you don’t have any weather to contend with on top of everything else. The good news is the rain, but we certainly don’t need any other complexities to deal with just now.
Thanks Linda. The forecast doesn’t look promising. We are just having a family graveside service, so hopefully it’ll avoid the rain.
