I am out on the front porch before the sun comes over the horizon.
I’ve been watching the brouhaha brewing over the president’s* fight with the governor of North Carolina over whether or not they will guarantee the ability for the Republican Convention to seat 20,000 people in their arena by August. Seems to me he’s asking for the wrong thing.
It’s been awhile, but I remember the work involved in setting up one of those political circuses. And if you are going to pull one of those off contracts need to be signed, and construction needs to start soon.
The scale of a political convention, especially a Republican Party Convention, are massive. The number of people and firms involved are endless. And it is all done under the umbrella of the host committee and the host city… so the contracts all fall under public purview and requirements.
I am sure many contracts have been signed for months and designs have been finalized for specific venues. Hell, construction on the podium could already have started.
But, this is Trump. He has a history of walking away from contracts leaving someone else holding the bag. Why not now make that United States policy writ large.
Enough about all of that… I’ve been watching the sun come up and enjoying another cooler morning. My daughter informed me yesterday, that they will be staying at the lake for another day. So I get the house to myself for another day.
This post seems long enough. So, with half a cup of coffee, I’m going in.
