Not as cool, but still nice morning coffee muses.

All week long, ever since the weather changed to the more seasonable, my avian companion each morning has been the Eastern Phoebe that first showed up last week. The rather solitary bird moves around the backyard looking for insects from perches in almost every tree at some point. Flying down to capture a tidbit, then back up to a perch.

Now the crows are making their presence known. And far across the bayou a hawk is hunting…

Sounds are carrying today. The road noise from the bypass is especially loud today. And far to the south a train is announcing each railroad crossing.

The monarchs from the northern States have migrated their way to my part of Texas. I’ve been seeing one or two on the butterfly weed each day this week. There are also skippers and other butterflies and a mess of honey bees.

The cup has gone dry… time to get a refill. Wait, I hear the bluebird family coming by…
