You Are Not Spending The Summer In SE Texas
The temperatures for the past week have started each day above the 75° mark on the thermometer. From there they just keep climbing. Yesterday we saw a high reading of 96°. It looks like we can expect even more of the same…
Steamy heat and thunderstorms are on tap for today and throughout the week and into the weekend as a low-pressure area settles above the Houston region and humidity levels climb.
Widely scattered showers are forecast each day, especially as temperatures heat up in the late afternoon. Some of the downpours could be heavy, dropping as much as two inches of rainfall in brief cloudbursts.
High temperatures will be in the lower to mid 90s each day and the overnight lows will be in the upper 70s. Humidity will be about 90 percent and the heat index will reach triple digits.
The sky has decided to do some talking right now…Thunder is rolling around outside like the drum kit the neighbor kid practices on every day…Even so the temperatures haven’t dropped below 80°.
Family Get Togethers
After starting last week with our own version of the Memorial Day/Start of Summer Celebration, we rolled into the Annual Boyd ~ Cox Family Reunion. These family gatherings have been going on since before I was born. As a mater of fact one of the first pictures of myself that I have seen shows me at one of these summer gatherings.
Sadly, as the original family members have passed away, the gathering has grown less well attended. We are down to just one member of the original generation…And my own generation is rapidly dwindling. There is something to say for being one of the babies in the family…
Maybe we can get a little more interest going for the next reunion…
