On my Monday morning trek to the “curb” this morning the thermometer on the front porch was reading 72°. After dropping the garbage bag in the cage and coming in to coffee and toast I read the following…
Cold, wet weather reaching into most Texas areas | Chron.com – Houston Chronicle
Freezing rain, cloudy skies and just plain wet and chilly weather were forecast for what is shaping to be a dreary today across much of Texas.

Houston hit a record high of 82 degrees Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record that day was 80 degrees, set Dec. 9, 1971.
The National Weather Service doesn’t expect highs to climb past the 40s in most areas beyond the coast and South Texas, where afternoon temperatures should remain in the 70s. Those regions will likely be spared rain, too.
It almost makes you wonder if you live in the same state. Freezing precipitation in the north,,,spring and summer in the south. Ya gotta love it.

Atlantic may be brewing one more tropical storm | Chron.com – Houston Chronicle
MIAMI — A weather system off Puerto Rico has the potential to become a tropical storm, forecasters said Sunday, a little more than a week after the Atlantic hurricane season ended. At 9:30 p.m. CST the system was about 425 miles east of Puerto Rico. It was moving west at about 15 to 20 mph and was expected to continue that general motion over the next day or two, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t we just do this…last year? If memory serves, we had one storm pop up after the New Year. It is starting to look like they need to revisit the dates that are considered “in the season”.
